RAASCLAAAAT!!!@$%$#

For fucks sake.

So now I find out that I'm NOT working at Moving Fusion. What the fuck??

Fuck this town. Seriously. Promoters can suck my fat black dick. They need to wake the fuck up and realise that if they keep acting the way they are this scene will die out like Melbourne, or become fickle and full of egos like Perth (no disrespect to the ravers in each city, I'm talking bout a handful of people). I've had internationals tell me the same thing. Yo, promoters: Stop booking people just because they are you're friend! Half of them aren't actually your friend anyway, they just swing on your nuts because you book them. The other half have no talent at all. Seriously, if things keep going they way they are the D&B scene in this (tiny) city will shrivel up. Sort it the FUCK out.

Rotting infront of the computer ..

Say hello and hit me up on the tagboard you filthy bastards!

Just remembered ..I'm on the mic @ Traffic on the 2nd of April with Kenny Ken + Foxy, which should be nice. Kenny always smashes up the party and Foxy is decent too. Good chance I'll be MCing for my Essex dogs Moving Fusion too a few weeks after that, and you KNOW how we do! Hahahaha, I'm all excited now, bring on the madness!

Sweep Over My Soul

Another long night in the studio for me. I think it's comming to an end now, I'm going to have to go to bed soon. I got some Luciano on at the moment, fuck he's incredible. He's put me in a really nice calm mood, and combined with the time at the moment I'm starting to nod off -_-

The weekend was nice, though the timing of Saturday night was a bit of a shambles. First gig was with the Beat Smugglers which was SUPPOSED to start around 12:30. But because the Adelaide Fringe Festival is on Rhino had some comedy bizness going on till 12:00, so when I got there just after Midnight the place wasn't even ready yet, there were rows of chairs everywhere and the stage was bare. So after some quick work putting all the chairs away we started to set up ..which took a while. Then when we were about to start the monitors shat themselves, so we spent MORE time swapping em over. By the time we started the place was still only about half full, cause the doors had only re-opened to let people back up at about 12:15. Still the gig was fun.

By the time we finished though I was about 40 minutes late for my next gig at BassStation @ St. Pauls. So Ben and Mel gave me and Lexy a lift down there, but by the time I got inside (I have no idea what time it was by then) the place was barron, hardly anyone was there. Bulletproof (repping the NZ massive, big up the mans dem) was playing and wasn't too happy with the turnout so in the end he cut his set short and I only MC'd for him for about 10 mins. Which was a bit pants really cause he'd actually specifically asked the promoters to get me to MC for him. Ohwell bruv, we'll have to get you down here again soon and do some mad shit. I spent the next hour MCing to Khem's set untill about 5:00AM, which was a proper laugh. The room had nuff people in there, there just wasn't anyone dancing ..combined with the countless Jack Daniels and Coke I'd had I just decided to talk some absolute shit on the mic. I started bigging up all the crew wearing blue shirts, and I remember at one point saying one of my mates there smelled funny. Good thing everyone there had a sense of humour, it was proper funny =) Could have been quite horrible in hindsight, but thankfully everyone had a chuckle. Definately good fun.

Friday: It was good!

Yup, Friday was cool.

Lexy stayed over my place on Thursday night, so Friday afternoon we ended up going into town to do some shopping. I ended up getting some fresh new Nike trainers, some Air Force 1's. They're white, but the swoosh and lining is brown, and the swoosh itself looks like crocodile skin, which sounds garrish but it actually looks pretty sweet. There's a little "NYC" stitched onto the outer side of each shoe aswell. I was actually trying to get a pair of these Year of the Monkey Air Force 1s, but as usual the largest size they had was 11. I'm a 13.

So after town a few mates came round to Lexys place and gave me a lift out to Port Adelaide so I could grab a few tunes from Pab to play that night. I found a whole heap of tunes I thaught I'd lost there which was pretty cool, so Ig grabbed them too and we went back to grab Lexy and head into Traffic.

It ended up being a pretty heavy night. My mate Dale was putting on a night called Blind, a charity gig for the Royal Society for the Blind. I dd the first set out the back from 10:00-11:00 with Trucker playing Old School Jungle first up, which was a helluva lot of fun. I made a cool intro the night before, real cheesy Old School style with all these soundbytes of sound clashes, lots of loud "pull up!" and "bumbaclaaaaaat" samples. Just to completely push it over the top I added a whole lot of gunshot noises and bleeps and shit. Very cool. So we played a whole bunch of 93/94/95 shit, and I took a break again untill about 12:30 when I got up on the mic out the back. I ended up working out there untill about 3:00 which was cool, the crowd was pretty hyper and they were all getting into it. Some geezer was there from the US too who seemed to be feeling it there, but I swear he couldn't have looked more like a tourist =) The gold teeth kind of gave him away hehehehe, big him up though for enjoying the Adelaide flavour. Run tell a friend mate, let em know how we run it down here! At 4:00 I did a Hooligan Soul set with Pab which went real well, although I can't help thinking if we were given an earlier timeslot we would have SMASHED it. Everyone was kinda flaking by then, but we still managed to get a decent dancefloor happening.

Don't like this city much at the moment. May construct death ray and destroy planet. Not too sure yet, we'll see if I get paid this weekend first.

Maaaaaaan ...

Hmmm ..well it's been a pretty average week so far. As usual my week starts proper today, a Wednesday. Pab came round and we whipped up a few tunes in the studio, which was by all accounts a very productive afternoon. It was bloody HOT though, it must have been about 40°C in the studio that day, real angry heat. We took a break at one point and went for a walk to the shops to get some juice to cool down and I decided to get some food. Now I can understand Pablo's concern about me purchasing chips and peas with gravy on such a fiercly hot day, but I gotta say that shit can be consumed whatever the temperature may be. Man that's good shit!

After the studio session we headed into town for the our Under The Influence night at the Cumberland Arms. Here's where the fun started. See there used to be this guy in Adelaide years ago who went by the name System AD. He was pretty much the guy who introduced MPK and Noddy to Jungle back around 91, and as a result started the D&B scene in Adelaide. So he's definately a well respected dude on that account alone, but he also changed his name to Pearlonyx a few years ago and got signed to Peshay's label Cubik. Now he was never actually a full on Aussie, he just kept comming over here from time to time, and we kinda adopted him as our own, although he's definately 100% Pom. So anyway he came back to Adelaide a few days ago, and everyone got excited. So Dave (who owns the Cumberland Arms, bless his soul) decided to give him a call and book him to play at our night.

Cool you'd think? Well ..mabey. The thing is, first of all it's supposed to be a Hooligan Soul night. Me and Pab with guests. We run the night. We usually have two or three DJ's playing sets in the front bar, while myself and Pab run tings out the back. If we get guests in, they either play out the front, OR if they play out the back they join myself and Pab going two for two, mashup style .So when we found out Dave had gone ahead and booked Pearlonyx without telling us (or asking us) we were a little pissed off. Then we find out Pearlonyx wouldn't go back to back with us, he wanted an hour set by himself, so me and Pab had to basically play 8:00-10:30 out the back, then go into the front bar and play there from 10:30-11:30, then go BACK to the back bar to play 11:30-close. Bear in mind in the two years we've been putting on Wednesday nights at the Cumberland we've ALWAYS played the back room.

So we wait till 10:30, but Pearlonyx doesn't rock up till about 10:50, and then Fiction who was playing in the front bar tells us he's playing till 11:30 ..damnit why the HELL did it have to be this confusing?! The other thing is that it's supposed to be a smoother, Liquid style Drum & Bass night. The whole point of Under The Influence was having a chilled Drum & Bass night with easy vibes ..so why Pearlonyx rinsed a set full of Tech Itch and Loxy & Ink is beyond me.  In the end I just sat at the bar (the back one, if you're still following me) and drank a few pints while Pab cruised over to our mate Tobys house next door and we just kinda did nothing untill about 11:30 when we got back on the turntables and played till we closed.

I want to be a salmon.

So last night I had a gig at this party called VYRSM. I'm guessing they couldn't afford to print the O U E and the I in the title, being the first proper party these guys had put on and all. The good thing about it was the fact it was put on by some NEW promotional blood in Adelaide ..the bad thing about it was the fact it was at the Bridgeway Hotel, formerly one of the ruffest Hotels in the Northern Suburbs. I swear, half the people in there would have been stabbed in the face with a broken ashtray by a group of Bikers waiting out the front of a Zep Boys night if they went there a year ago.

Anyway, I had an early set this time, 11:30 till 12:30 with Pab, so we did a set of Liquid style Drum & Bass set. Things were going quite nicely, the place was filling up and people were having a little shuffle to the tunes we were playing, and the room had a nice vibe. Untill this wanker approached the 'tables. He was one of those odd "raver-homie" types. His torso was "Urban" style, with some ugly ass shiny Dada top or some generic shit like that on, while his bottom half was adorned with the disastrous "raver pant", all black with reflective orange trim and 98" pant leg. Anyway, the guy leans over and starts jerking his head at us. It looked like he was having a seisure but I figured he was trying to beckon us by using his head ..so I go over to him and he says to me:

"Oi man, pick up the pace a little bit mate, cause I mean really, this music is shit."

What the FUCK?!

"Nah man I'm just saying. Pick it up, cause this music is really shit. No one likes it."

Jeez! So sorry, would you like to bring me your own box of records, which would no doubt be full of Technical Itch gabber-step. Just the thing for 11:30pm. I told him to piss off, which he reluctantly did, but it still left me feeling mad as hell. I mean who the hell was he to say that shit? Does he not realise that HE was the one that didn't like it, not the other people in the room dancing or bouncing around in their chairs while they got their drink on. How thick was he? Seriously, would I go up to an Airplane pilot in the middle of a flight and go "you should fly this plane on its side the rest of the way, because this is so shit at the moment. No one likes this 'safe' flight, they all want an 'exciting' flight, so do us all a favour and turn it on it's side."

Mate, if you read this, here's a challenge: Learn how to mix, get some records, get yourself a spot at a show and play your Panacea at 11:30pm while the club is warming up and show me how that works better. Punk.
